RESERVATION IN ADMISSION ON THE BASIS OF REGION, QUITE UNJUSTIFIED

To advocate reservation in admission in DU on the basis of region is quite unjustified. What is mentioned in the Vision Document of BJP for the Delhi elections is a great threat to the spirit of a central university. It is in favour of 85% reservation for the students of Delhi in the colleges of DU. It is the sign of gaining cheap popularity that will definitely harm BJP in the long run. Is it not showing the dual politics and hybridised policy of BJP ? Where is the shouting slogan of "Wasudhaiv kutumbkam" on which BJP has been claiming its copyright ? Where is its grave concern for national unity and integrity ? BJP is repeating the same mistake which AAP committed after coming to power. Then Manish Sisodiya, the then HRD Minister of Delhi wanted 90 % reservation in those colleges of DU which are funded by the Govt. of Delhi. AAP had to pay the price by losing the viable possibility of its effective expansion in other states.

DU is the centre of attraction for the students of the whole country because of its non-compromising nature with quality education. Here, the talent of students from each and every corner of India is centralised. AAP forgot that the majority of the student community of DU had supported it for a prudential and conscientious government that was expected to carry the element of totality & integrity of nation. But, this time Kejriwal is taking each and every step very wisely and has revised his stand on the issue of admission by mentioning in the party manifesto that his govt. will open some new colleges to solve the admission- crisis in Delhi effectively.

But, BJP is taking the talented students of other states for granted who play decisive role not only to maintain the standard of the university by their hard labour, perseverance and excellent research work, but also to ensure the politics of the capital to run in the right direction. If the aspirational, ambitious, determined, dedicated and focused students from different parts of the country not be at the University of Delhi, where is the charm of DU to be found ? The Govt. of any party which comes to power, should attempt to open new universities and colleges for those students of Delhi who fail to get admission in DU due to high cut-off of marks, rather than trying to dilute the dignity, quality and reputation of this glorious central university.

" उतलिवुल इल्म वलौ कानाबिस्सीन"। अर्थात्, इल्म और तालीम हासिल करने के लिये चीन (यानि बहुत दूर) ही क्यों न जाना पड़े, जाना चाहिये । पर, जब अपने ही देश में क्षेत्र के आधार पर नामांकन में आरक्षण की वकालत हो रही हो, तो ऐसे में उच्च शिक्षा की स्थिति में सुधार की संभावना को आघात लगता है ।

तूने यकसां न भरे गर सभी के पैमाने
न तू रहेगा ए साक़ी, न तेरे मैख़ाने ।
